DR-10

Run the whole remote from a telephone.

Call it from the remote site. It answers on the ring you choose, beeps twice, takes your password, beeps once, and from then on every key you press can switch your audio, cue your automation or call the operator.

A live break, one key.

Straight from the DR-10 manual: relays 9 and 10 latch on the same key, another relay pulses the automation, and a second key puts everything back.

Ringing the DR-10Answered: beep beepPassword taken: beep. IFB in your earKey 1: you're on the airKey 2: back to IFB

IFB on the lineOn the air

  • GoPulse to the automation
  • StopStop pulse
  • LightAttention light
  • 9IFB off the line
  • 10Your audio to the console
  1. You call the DR-10 from the remote. It answers with two beeps.
  2. You key your password. One beep: you're in, with the IFB feed in your ear.
  3. You press 1 and three things happen at once: the IFB drops off the line, your audio goes to the console, and a pulse tells the automation you're live.
  4. You press 2 when the break is done. A stop pulse fires and you're back on IFB.

The translator site calls you.

Another example from the manual: a temperature sensor on one of the DR-10's four alarm inputs, and a spare fan on a latching relay.

 Translator site temperature

  1. 2:14 a.m.The temperature passes the sensor's trip point. The DR-10 picks up the line and dials your pager, and keeps dialing every six seconds until the paging company hangs up.
  2. 2:17 a.m.No call back within three minutes, so it pages you again.
  3. 2:21 a.m.You call in and key the unlock password. That clears the alarm.
  4. 2:21 a.m.You key #1. Two beeps: the input is still tripped. You latch the relay wired to the spare fan.
  5. 2:35 a.m.You call back and key #1 again. One beep: it's cooled off. Back to bed.

The RPU dies mid-remote. Now what?

Borrow a phone line where you are, dial the DR-10, key the password and hit the attention light. The operator answers on the mix-minus IFB and puts your DR-10 audio on the air. With the Silencer option fitted, your touch-tones stay off the air.

Everything it does.

  • Ten dry relay contacts, two of them DPDT for switching balanced audio
  • Auto-answers on the ring you choose and hangs up at the end of the call
  • Momentary, latching with separate on and off codes, or interlocked relays, each on any tone
  • Relays can close at the start or the end of a tone
  • Password of up to eight digits, plus a second, listen-only password
  • Exclusive, two-tone and detection-delay modes stop false closures
  • Four status inputs that can dial four numbers and run relays
  • Built-in audio hybrid; active, balanced phone audio in and out
  • Aux audio input for control from RPUs and other sources
  • Disable input so a timer, switch or automation decides when the decoder listens
  • Binary mode on the first five relays for routers, switchers and computers
  • Each relay can beep to confirm it worked
  • Programs from any touch-tone phone and keeps its settings through a power failure
  • Metal case for table, wall or rack; rack mount included

More about the DR-10

Put it to work on unattended remote broadcasts with your automation, cutting into programming for emergency warnings or quick announcements, EAS monitoring, and remote-controlled audio switching.

The DR-10 takes the Silencer option, which keeps touch-tones off its audio output, and the CP-1 call progress decoder for phone systems that don't signal the end of a call.
