How it works

It listens to almost any audio source and switches the matching output when it hears your tone or sequence.

Everything it does.

  • Four relays, 2 DPDT and 2 SPST, on screw terminals
  • Twelve high-current Darlington optocoupler outputs, up to 150 mA, on a standard D-25
  • Any output on any tone or sequence up to six digits, with two activation codes per output
  • Momentary, latching with separate on and off codes, momentary after end of tone, or interlocked latching
  • High-impedance, unbalanced bridging input for a wide range of levels
  • Anti-falsing circuit for program lines and speech circuits
  • Programmed over the serial port with a terminal program; decoded tones are reported there too
  • Power supply included; ICs socketed
  • Two-year limited warranty

More about the DTMF-16

What people use it for: decoding automation tones from radio networks off a satellite receiver into their automation, backup transmitter control over an STL, radio or telephone coupler, radio control of camera pan and tilt heads, appliance and computer control over a phone or radio link, and firing players and recorders in the studio.

With the Silencer option, the DTMF-16 takes your satellite audio and feeds program to your console with the control tones muted. If your programming regularly carries touch-tones, we can shift your control tones so normal tones pass through untouched.
